Canada Introduces New PGWP Eligibility Criteria Starting November 2024

 In News

Canada has announced new eligibility rules for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) that will take effect on November 1, 2024. These changes will impact international students who plan to work in Canada after completing their studies.

University graduates with a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD will still qualify for a PGWP without needing to meet the field of study requirements, but they must now demonstrate a minimum CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French. Other graduates, including those from diploma programs, will need to meet both language and field-specific criteria aligned with Canada’s labor market needs.

These new rules won’t affect students who apply before November 1.

For those aiming to stay and work in Canada, the changes are crucial to understand. Click here to read more.
