If you’ve ever prepared rigorously for an exam and still didn’t get the desired score, you know how frustrating that can be. If you would like to have a second chance to demonstrate your skills, there’s a solution now, depending on the test type that you took: IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR). In this article, we will explain what it is and its advantages.
As the name implies, IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) is a feature conceived to help test-takers get their desired test score without retaking the full exam. If they want to improve their score on one section, they can retake any of them: Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking.
Here are some benefits related to IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR):
If you are wondering how you can book IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) in Canada, here are the conditions:
In case you didn’t know, there is also EoR (Enquiry on Results), which gives you the possibility to request a revision of your results by a different examiner, if you are not satisfied with them.
You can apply for this modality within six weeks from the IELTS test date reflected on your Test Report Form. The results of your review will be available within 2 to 21 days of your EoR application.
But what are the differences between these options if they both allow you to change your result? The main variation is that OSR is an opportunity to retake one IELTS section, while EoR isn’t about retrieving the exam but asking for a second revision of your previous results.
As we mentioned earlier, the option to retake a single section of the IELTS test offers several advantages. Are you curious if other exams provide similar options?
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) allows candidates to retake the entire exam, but it does not permit the repetition of specific sections. However, if someone is dissatisfied with his or her results, he or she can retake the test at any time.
PTE Academic allows candidates to retake the entire exam or ask for a revaluation of the score. Nevertheless, you should be aware that your previous test result will automatically be replaced by the new one. All PTE exams are machine-scored, so it is unlikely that your overall grade will change if you ask for a revision of the results.
If you don’t score as well as you hoped in one of the exam sections, you have the option to retake only that specific section without having to redo the entire exam.
Don’t miss your chance to improve your score as needed! By now, you should know that IELTS is accepted by more than 11.500 organizations and institutions, so it is one of the most prestigious exams worldwide.
With this new facility, you are more likely to get your desired score. Even if you don’t perform as well as expected in one section, you have a second chance to improve and study harder.
